Once A Gold Mine, Always a Gold Mine

As we all know, everything must change. It would be great for things to remain as they have been, but that is not possible. When something is up for demolition, this usually means that its useful days are over. The fact that the decision has been made to get rid of it says that people are pretty certain that there is nothing left to be done with it and they would rather destroy it and start over that deal with it in its current state.

A site in Canada that stopped being a gold mine in 2003 was slated for demolition to possibly make way for a geothermal plant. This gold mine had been in existence since 1938 and during that time it produced a lot of gold--more than 160,000 kg. And so it seemed that this gold mine’s days of producing gold were over. It had been determined that there was surely a better use for the land, so the demolition process began.

But as crews recently learned, its days of producing gold are not quite over yet. As they proceeded with the demolition, workers came across about 1,400 ounces of gold. And this was not surprise to one mining expert who felt certain that some gold-rich ore still remains to be found among the buildings at the former mining operation. What has been unearthed so far is estimated to be worth over a million dollars. That is not bad for a mine that is no longer in operation, is it?

Maybe you have some gold jewelry that has become worn or has seen better days. Perhaps due to some accident, your gold jewelry has become twisted or broken, but you have not been able to part with it, despite its broken state. You can still get some use out of your broken gold jewelry when you sell gold to a gold buyer to get cash for gold.
