Aged Citizens in India to Get Gold Coins

Filed under: All Gold, Blog, News — Tags: , , — GoldGuru @ 5:26 am

When it comes to commemorating wedding anniversaries, gold is used to mark fifty years, but these rules do not apply when it comes to celebrating years of life.

A territory in India has decided to honor some of its most mature citizens by giving gold coins to people who live there who are more than 100 years old. The coins will each weigh eight grams and the territory plans to give the coins away at a ceremony. Amazingly enough, this territory will be giving away quite a few gold coins, since they are in the process of reviewing applications from 25 people who have applied for this honor.

We don’t know how big this territory is, but having at least 25 people who are 100 or older is an indication that they are doing something right over there. And so in a way, by honoring its oldest citizens, this territory is also bestowing an honor upon itself. No wonder they want to have a ceremony. If you can boast of that many people who have lived at least a century, that is definitely something to celebrate.

We think that it is great that this area would decide to give away gold coins, but of course we do not expect you to do this. As a gold buyer, we know that you certainly do not want to give any gold coins or any other gold items. We know that you want to sell gold to get cash for gold. And we make it easy for you. After you contact us, we will send you a postage-paid envelope. Simply place the gold items that you want to sell into that envelope and mail it back to us.

Once we have evaluated your gold items, we will let you know just how much cash for gold you can expect to receive. There is no official ceremony, but we are sure that you will not mind; you will be too busy trying to figure out just how to spend all of your cash for gold. You won’t need the ceremony, but you can celebrate in your own quiet way.

It’s Not Too Late to Resolve to Get Cash for Gold

We imagine that you never really thought of a gold buyer as a self-help guru, but help does come from unexpected sources. We buy gold objects of all types and change them into cash for gold for you and pure gold for those who need it. Believe it or not, we do know something about transformation. So as we head towards the end of January, we want to ask you-how are you doing on your New Year’s resolutions?

It is okay if you have not quite lived up to those promises you made a few weeks ago. And while we cannot do much to assist you with exercising more or eating less, we can help you clear out some clutter and provide you with a way to get more money that you can put into savings.

When it comes to forming new habits, you really do have to start small. If go through your old and broken jewelry and pick out old gold jewelry that you can sell to get cash for gold, you will be just a little bit closer to having the clear space that you want. True, mismatched gold earrings, broken gold necklaces and old gold chains are not huge items, but you have to start somewhere, right? The satisfaction of knowing that you have begun to clean up some of the debris in your home may inspire you to tacking bigger challenges.

And the cash for gold you get when you sell gold may not be all of the cash you have ever hoped for, but it is certainly better than nothing. It is also much better than having someone take money from you. Saving money, even in the tiniest amounts can have a big impact down the road. When you take the money you get from selling gold and decide to save it, you can transform your clutter into a valuable asset for the future.

You are Free to Sell Gold Without Restrictions, pt. 2

We wrote earlier about how in ancient times, it was very easy for people to find gold. When explorers from the “Old World” made contact with the peoples of the “New World,” they were amazed at the ease with which people were able to locate and procure gold.

In these days and times most of us are not able to just go outside and find gold. While there are some places that will allow you to pan for gold, they are not plentiful and we have many more rules and regulations about these things than they had in ancient times. On the other hand, people of all walks of life and wear gold and display gold objects without fear. And that is the interesting paradox about our times: Gold is associated with wealth and a certain social standing, yet any and everyone has it, can wear it and can sell gold as they please. Even though the use of gold is much more democratic, the metal has not lost its luster or appeal simply because it is no longer mainly associated with royalty or the ruling class. Although, you probably think it is no big deal,  it is no small feat that you are free to keep your gold or sell it to gold buyer and get cash for gold as you wish without interference.

Yes, gold moves through hands of one person to those of another with ease these days. And when you contact a gold buyer about selling your gold online, the gold will not even pass from your hands to those of another; you will simply send it to the gold buyer through the mail. The postal system is another modern convention that we take for granted, but one that can make it very convenient to sell gold.

You are Free to Sell Gold Without Restriction, pt. 1

There was a time in ancient Egypt, during the days of the pharaohs, when gold was said to be as readily available as dirt. Once a visiting ruler from the Mali empire, which was located in what is now West Africa, came to Egypt and gave away gold in such large amounts that his generous visit made the price of gold in Egypt plummet for at leasta decade in the 14th century.

And if you read accounts of the ancient peoples of Caribbean islands like Quisqueya (now divided into Haiti and the Dominican Republic), people were able to go to certain spots and find gold within minutes. The gold-hungry explorers who descended on this island were amazed and could barely contain their excitement that gold was so readily available.

The interesting paradox about gold in the ancient world was that although it was plentiful and easy to obtain, it was also not necessarily worn by everyone. Depending on the culture, the working class may have had some access to gold, but more often than not, only the wealthy were able to wear and display gold whenever they wished. Someone of low social standing would not have been able to wear gold as freely as someone of a higher class.

And even if they worked on gold as artisans, laborers certainly were not able to sell gold to a gold buyer as they wished. If someone from the working class had gold, it was not likely to be their own and if they were caught attempting to sell gold that was not theirs, they would be serious consequences. No doubt many an ancient jewelry maker indulged in some daydreams about what they would do if the gold they were entrusted to work on was really their own.

Selling Gold is One of the Best Ways to Get Cash Quickly, pt. 1

At the end of a new year and in the early days of a new one, the public is inundated with “Best of/Worst of” lists. We all complain about how silly this is and how much we loathe such lists, but they keep making them and we continue to read them.

The lists tend to chronicle trends like what kind of jeans are or are not popular or look at the best movies and television shows. Only on rare occasions do we see lists that do things like document the best financial moves of the year.

If you thought your finances were a little uncertain before, then you probably found even less certainty in the past year. Others were quite sure, but 2009 made you question your confidence in the economy.

Even if you questioned the stability of the economy and wondered about your ability to weather the financial storm, one thing did not change: gold is as valuable now as it ever was. In fact, the price of gold was on the rise in the past year.

If someone were to make a list of quick and easy ways to raise money, selling gold would be at the top each and every time. In other eras, you had to actually go out and take your gold to a brick-and-mortar store where you would have to haggle with someone to get the best price.

These days, you do not have to do all that work. When you sell gold to an online gold buyer, you simply have to contact them and promptly you will receive a postage-paid envelope in the mail. Place the gold items you no longer want into the envelope and mail it back in the gold buyer. Then the gold buyer will evaluate your gold and let you know just how much cash for gold you can expect to receive.

It’s Always a Good Time to Sell Gold

You see them all year ’round, but at this time of year, you may come across articles and lists about what you should be buying now and when is the best time of year to buy certain items like cars or appliances. These lists are certainly helpful, but you should not worry if you decide to disregard the advice and buy something at a time of the year when you may not get it for the best price imaginable.

News outlets like the China Daily have reported that Chinese citizens have gone gold crazy. The fervor of the Chinese to buy gold has been sparked by really great year-end sales. No doubt this frenzy to buy gold is making jewelry stores very happy.

Here in the United States, you will find that gold buyers are always looking to buy gold. There is no need to wait until the end of the year or the end of the month or for a certain day of the week. Gold is always in demand and you can sell gold whenever you get ready. The amount of cash for gold you can get is not dependent on the time of the year, but on the amount of pure gold contained in the gold items that you want to sell. When you sell gold, you do not have to offer a special sale price to get a gold buyer to take it off of your hands–they are ready and willing to take it.

While the cash for gold you can get by selling gold jewelry, gold coins and other gold items is not dependent on the time of the year, the amount of money you will receive for selling gold is tied to the current price of gold. The price of gold does fluctuate, but we can tell you that now is a really good time to sell gold. The price of gold has risen quite a bit during the last quarter of 2009. We are not able to predict just how high the price of gold will go nor when it will take a dip, but we imagine that people who sell gold now or in the near future will be rather pleased with the amount of cash for gold that they receive in exchange for their unwanted gold items.

Artist Creates Unique Items with 24 Carat Gold

The value of gold is not only monetary, although it is hard not to think of gold solely in terms of money since the price of gold has risen rather high lately. There are some amazingly gorgeous items that are without price, but gold is certainly not one of those things. The value of gold changes frequently and recently it had climbed, so if you think you want to sell gold, now it’s a great time. The reason that gold can garner such high monetary value is due to the fact that gold is so very beautiful.

A German artist knows this very well and that is why she used 24 carat gold, combined with colored oils to make some very unique artwork that will be available for view at the Royal Academy of Arts in London during the latter part of this month. Inge Borg-Scott applied the 24 carat gold and colored oils combination to aluminum discs. We are not sure what exactly inspired this artist to use gold in this way, but we like to see creativity like this.

Rare artworks like this are the kind of item that one would have to think very carefully about selling. However, if you have gold jewelry that you once found beautiful, but rarely have the opportunity to wear now because it is not longer in style or you just don’t like it very much, you need not hesitate to sell it to a gold buyer. There is no need to hang onto gold items that you no longer find beautiful. The gold itself retains its beauty, of course, but if you no longer find that way it is shaped to be pleasing, there is no need to keep such gold items around.

Captain Kidd’s Gold, pt. 2

On Monday we discussed how the legend of Captain William Kidd makes him seem larger that life, when in reality he may not have been all that we have been lead to believe.

At one point, Captain Kidd had collected twenty for treasure chests tat contained gold, silver and other valuable items. Now as we all know, pirates tend to bury their treasure so they can come back to get it, since they cannot take all of it with them. But have you ever heard of a pirate getting a receipt? That is supposedly what happened with Captain Kidd–he buried his gold and other treasures in a swamp on John Gardiner’s land and Gardiner gave him a receipt.

The first question you might ask is–wasn’t Kidd afraid that Gardiner would just dig up the treasure for himself? With his terrorizing reputation, Kidd probably feared little and promised to kill Gardiner if told someone about the treasure.

Kidd was not able to see whether he would have to make good on that threat because he was arrested not long after depositing his gold and other valuables in Gardiner’s swamp. Gardiner may have had his own designs on the gold, but he could not keep it for himself because the governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony insisted that the treasure be turned over to the government.

Years later, people still are trying to find what they hoped would be some of Kidd’s gold that may have remained buried. There are legends that Kidd told others where some of his treasures were and that all of it was not turned over to the colonial government.

You need not dig through swamps to find gold. It is likely that you have gold somewhere visible in your home that you do not really use. Unlike, Captain Kidd, you are free to sell gold to a gold buyer and get cash for gold.

Captain Kidd’s Gold, pt. 1

Like many pirates of old, Captain William Kidd exploits have been embellished over the years, so that it becomes hard to separate fact from fiction. In fact, in seems as if Captain Kidd’s adventures were exaggerated even during his lifetime, so that we really have little way of knowing what may have actually occurred. There were no reality television show crew following him around and those who knew him were not likely to say or write a whole lot about Captain Kidd or his treasures for fear of retribution.

According to some historians, Kidd earned his place in history after spending about a year, from 1698 to the summer of 1699,wreaking havoc in New York harbor. According to some, all he amassed during that time was close to 90 pounds of gold, silver and other precious stones. Kidd’s gold and other items were said to have been collected into twenty-four treasure chests.

Now most of use would certainly find a way to use 80 or so pounds of gold and other precious items. These days one does not have to search far to find a gold buyer, in fact you can sell gold to an online gold buyer without ever setting foot in a store. So we are not saying that Captain Kidd didn’t do much. We are just noting that in comparison to other pirates, his gold treasury is considered to be rather small. In fact, it may be his legend an reputation that are worth their weight in gold, rather than the actual amount of treasure that Captain Kidd captured.

Come back on Wednesday to learn why Captain Kidd probably did not see any cash for gold in exchange for his gold treasury.

Georgia Town Honors its Past with Gold Rush Days

Filed under: All Gold, Blog, News — Tags: , , — GoldGuru @ 5:00 am

This past summer we told you about how two towns in Georgia. Dahlonega and Villa Rica were in a competition to be declared the town that had the country’s first gold rush. Nevermind the fact that the country’s most famous gold rush took place in California–if you can’t be famous, why not at least be named first? Both Dahlonega and Villa Rica can claim that people came to those towns looking for gold in the late 1820s, so their gold rushes pre-date the 1849 California gold rush by 2 decades.

For its part Dahlonega was working hard to make sure that the Dahlonega Gold Museum could stay open seven days a week in order to bolster its claims and have a stronger footing in the competition to gain status as America’s first gold rush town.

Earlier this week, we talked about Diwali, a South Asian festival during which people buy gold as part of the festivities. Well, these are not the festivities this time of year in which gold plays a major part.

During the third weekend of October, Dahlonega celebrates Gold Rush Days, a festival to honor its past role in gold mining. This year festival organizers expect to see perhaps 200,000 people arrive to celebrate the gold-rich past with them. There will even be a concession stand dedicated to gold mining, which was inspired by that original gold rush. As one of the organizers commented, the current price of gold should encourage people to take an interest in gold mining.

If, however you are unable to make it down to Georgia in time for Gold Rush Days, you can still reap the benefits of the high price of gold. Instead of spending a lot of time outside at a gold panning concession stand, you can “pan” for gold within the comfort of your own home. Look around for any old gold or broken gold jewelry so you can sell gold to a gold buyer.
